MultiChoice Diski Challenge

The MultiChoice Diski Challenge a multifaceted programme in partnership with the Premier Soccer League (PSL) that seeks to provide a platform for young players as well as aspirant sport broadcasters to grow their careers. This year in August, the programme will increase the number of matches played from 120 to 240, add six more festival weekends to the existing 12 taking them up to 18 thereby increasing the tournament’s reach to local communities. The matches that will broadcast live, will go up from 40 to over 70.

M-Net Magic In Motion

M-Net’s Magic in Motion Academy (MiM) plays a critical role in contributing skills in the film and TV industry and empowering the next generation of storytellers. It gives young South Africans on-the-job training and the opportunity to work with experienced producers to get hands-on experience. They are suitably equipped to embark on a career in their chosen field. Some have started their own production companies and produced award-winning content.  To date, 58 students have already been trained and are making their mark in the video entertainment industry. On 5 June 2019, graduates of M-Net’s Magic in Motion Academy had two of their films premiered on the big screen in front of a select audience.  

Wa Lepelle, aired on Mzansi Magic, channel 161 at 7:30pm on Saturday, 8 June 2019 and Themba Lam will play on 15 June 2019 on the same channel, also at 7:30pm.

SuperSport Rugby Challenge

Now in its third season, the SuperSport Rugby Challenge is South African rugby’s feel-good story that has achieved all its set objectives in a short space of time and continues to take the country’s rugby into a whole new direction.

Communities and homelands with a rich rugby heritage, which were left behind when rugby went professional, now get to soak up the pulsating rugby action the tournament dishes out on a weekly basis.

It’s the tournament Varsity, Club and developmental rugby superstars aspire to as the next step in their careers before Super Rugby and ultimately the Springboks.

Let's Play

What started out as an initiative to get primary school kids off the couch and engaging in physical activity more than 15 years ago, has evolved into a multi-faceted and award winning CSI programme that continues to change the lives of every community member it touches.  

Through the Physical Education Challenge, in partnership with UNICEF and the Department of Basic Education, Let’s Play reaches thousands of primary school children on a weekly basis encouraging sports participation, fitness, a healthy lifestyle, and tolerance in a fun and meaningful way through play. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind which in turn leads to academic excellence.

Enterprise Development

Through our enterprise development initiatives, we continue to foster and support new and previously disadvantaged business owners in the film, television and media industries. We provide funding as well as mentorship and skills development for start-ups and established companies. So far R188m in interest free loans and grants. There have been over 100 businesses assisted and has trained over 40 entrepreneurs.
