Clarence Nyoni

Born  in Mongu, Zambia, 23-year-old Clarence is a TV editor, camera operator and animator, whose dream career is in animation. “I think I can contribute provocative stories that resonate with Africans and who we are as a people,” Clarence says about what he can add to the continent’s video entertainment industry. Passionate about computers, skateboarding and music, Clarence looks up to Nigerian animator and filmmaker Ayodele Alegba and Zambian writer and actor Onechi Lenji. According to the future filmmaker, the untapped potential of stories africans can tell gets him fired up, and is therefore enthused by the idea of educating the nation on filmmaking, especially “sensitising the youth on the importance of film”.

Looking forward to the opening of the Multichoice Talent Factory, Clarence is “hoping to gain theoretical and practical film production skills from the industry experts at the academy, and in return contributing to the Zambian and African film industry”.
