MultiChoice Malawi was established in 1996 as a locally-owned franchise. The operation provides Malawian customers with a choice of five DStv and three GOtv packages. Local operations are run by a staff of 60 Malawians working in Blantyre and Lilongwe and supported by a nationwide network of agents and installers.
Any business such as MultiChoice Malawi exists to create sustainable value – not only for employees and customers but also for the society in which it is rooted. I believe that we can claim to have succeeded to date in this regard, having helped to create hundreds of sustainable jobs and supported a growing network of MultiChoice Resource Centres whose impact is rarely appreciated except by their many thousands of beneficiaries and their families and teachers. Working together, we can use outstanding content, exceptional technology and brilliant people to do so much more.
Message from the Chairman of MultiChoice Malawi, Colin Smith
Keeping customers at the heart of our business – and constantly responding to their wishes – we employ more than 60 Malawians from offices in Blantyre and Lilongwe.
Every day we work with hundreds of installers, missilli men and sales agents. These individuals and privately-owned businesses have created employment for hundreds. In partnership with FMB, we make the payment of subscriptions easy and accessible while, through Airtel Money and TNM’s Mpamba mobile money service, customers can subscribe to GOtv wherever they have a cellphone signal.
Not only do we invest in people and our customer-facing presence across Malawi, more than MK5 billion has been invested in our digital terrestrial television (DTT) network.
MultiChoice Malawi has installed and equipped over 50 state-of-the-art MultiChoice Resource Centres (MRCs) throughout the country. These secure and welcoming venues enable thousands of secondary-school students to be exposed to an enhanced learning experience delivered via satellite through our DStv educational package.
